Unless you have a complicated tax situation, I have found the self-prepare programs really to use. You can save yourself a good deal of money by using a program like this vs. going to one of the tax preparation houses. Why pay someone $100 or $150 when you can do it yourself?
Even if you already had your taxes prepared by someone you might consider using TaxAct to see if you get the same results doing it yourself. Tax preparation houses can make mistakes!
If you get a different number, call your tax preparer and have them amend your return to make sure you get everything you are entitled to!
